Data Center Rack Decommissioning Technician (3-Month Contract)

Location: London, United Kingdom

Rate £150 - 165 daily

Fully onsite only

Job Description: As a Data Center Rack Decommissioning Technician, you will play a crucial role in the decommissioning and processing of legacy hardware from our clients data centre facilities. You will work closely with their experienced team to ensure the seamless removal, packaging, and relocation of enterprise equipment. This role requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, and excellent communication skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Decommission and process legacy hardware in data center facilities.
  • Safely move and lift packages, typically weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Unpack and repack fragile electronics with care.
  • Relocate and move large enterprise equipment as required.
  • Attach labels, barcodes, and perform basic networking removal/installation.
  • Handle hard drive installation, removal, and destruction.
  • Assist with basic PC component and hardware familiarity.
  • Utilize a web ticketing system to track progress and update status.
  • Report processes and provide regular status updates.
  • Document procedures accurately for future reference.
  • Escalate issues to senior technicians and management when necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure cross-functional success.


Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated and dependable individual.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and components.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Experience with a ticketing system is a plus but not required.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in confined spaces or elevated locations.
  • Willingness to document and track equipment during relocation efforts.
  • Flexibility to work in a 24x7 environment and wear a pager for communication, information, emergencies, and on-call situations.
  • Employment contingent upon passing a background check.
