Job Title: Data Centre -Technical Operations Engineer
Location: London
Temp Contract: 3 months contract

Daily Rate - £180- 210 (PAYE)


My client is a leading provider of data centre solutions, committed to delivering world-class infrastructure services. We are currently seeking a Facility Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimising our state-of-the-art data centre facilities.
Job Description:
You will be responsible for operating and maintaining the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of our AWS Data Centres. Your role will involve ensuring the continuous operation of critical systems and implementing safety procedures to maintain the highest standards of facility reliability. Here are the key responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptedly Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, HVAC systems, Exhaust Fans, VFD's, and Transformers.
  • Conduct daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment, recording essential data such as temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.
  • Supervise contractors when they perform servicing or preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Utilize your deep understanding of the Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) control systems to ensure efficient data collection and trending.
  • Apply your electrical and mechanical skills to solve problems and maintain operational excellence, ensuring the availability of critical infrastructure in the data centre.
  • Contribute to the development of Maintenance Control Manuals (MCM) and evaluate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), RAM's, and internal documents such as SIM tickets and Health and Safety protocols.

Scope

  • May influence peers and teams within a site or cluster.
  • Act as the primary contact for local partner teams.
  • Work collaboratively on one or more process paths as part of a team.
  • Provide training on day-to-day operations to less-experienced colleagues.
  • Handle routine challenges, but be prepared for emergency situations that may increase complexity.
  • Follow well-defined process plans while learning to work more independently.
  • Focus on mitigating risk and escalate when necessary.
  • Technical Complexity:

  • Assist with technical challenges while learning from experienced colleagues as task complexity increases.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex technical problems.
  • Independently execute preventive/corrective maintenance tasks to meet data center metrics following established job plans and procedures.
  • Develop a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and fire systems and their associated controls.
  • Learn to create job plans and procedures.

Experience:
Minimum of 1+ year of experience in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or fire systems maintenance in a critical infrastructure environment or technical school degree.
