Account Executive - Government
Job description
We're in search of a dedicated and seasoned Account Executive to collaborate closely with the Business Development Director for Canada and US Government. You'll report directly to the Chief Revenue Officer, with a primary focus on cultivating relationships and driving sales within key government agencies.
Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy Execution:
- Work in tandem with the Business Development Director to implement and execute the comprehensive sales strategy for the US government sector. Leverage your expertise in government sales to identify key opportunities and develop tactical plans for achieving sales objectives.
Government Agency Engagement:
- Engage with key decision-makers, stakeholders, and influencers within government agencies such as NOAA, EPA, and the State Department. Foster trust and credibility for our satellite-based methane emission monitoring technology.
New Business Development:
- Collaborate with the BD Director and the Senior Technical Advisor, Government Sales, to identify and pursue new business opportunities within the target agencies. Stay informed about government procurement processes, requests for proposals (RFPs), and industry trends to effectively position our solutions.
Sales Presentations and Demos:
- Support the BD Director in conducting compelling sales presentations, product demonstrations, and workshops tailored to the specific needs and challenges faced by government agencies.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Assist in managing existing government accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction, and identifying upselling or cross-selling opportunities as their requirements evolve.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and operations, to ensure a cohesive and seamless approach to Government sales activities.
Proposal Writing:
- Lead the preparation of proposals meeting the requirements of specific RFPs and ensure timely submission.
Market Intelligence:
- Stay updated on industry trends, policy changes, and developments within the government sector to provide valuable insights to the BD Director and refine sales strategies.
Performance Tracking:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities, opportunities, and customer interactions in the company's CRM system. Provide regular reports and updates to the Account Director and sales leadership team.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of proven track record of successful sales and business development experience within the US government sector. Specific experience with agencies like NOAA, EPA, or the State Department is a plus. Prior experience in environmental technology, climate solutions, or satellite-based applications will also be highly advantageous.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with methane emissions, greenhouse gas monitoring, climate change policies, and government procurement processes related to environmental solutions is preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and compelling manner.
- Relationship Building: Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at various levels of government agencies.
- Problem-Solving: Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to address customer needs creatively and proactively.
- Result-Driven: A self-motivated and results-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets.

- Travel: Willingness to travel periodically for meetings, conferences, and customer engagements.
